Possession Game with Joker(s)
Foundation (5-11), Youth Development (12-17), Senior (18+)
8 Players | Defensive Third, Middle Third, Attacking Third
The Set Up- 15x15 yard area, 2 reds on the outside, 2v2 in the middle with two "Jokers'
- Reds have to try & get the ball end to end using the middle players
- Reds can use the 'Jokers' who creates a 4v2 in the middle
- Rotate players around so all have a go at different positions
Coaching Points- Creating Space - Movement off the ball, between opponents, blind side, move against the flow of the defender
- Passing Selection - Risk or Retain the ball, into feet or space, surface type to pass the ball
- Receiving Priorities - In between, in front or back to opponent, first touch - how? where too?
Team/Player Considerations- Can you play on one touch?
- Can you create an angle to see both the ball and end players?
- Can the middle player & the 'Jokers' link on every phase? - Have a go
Step it up- Red middle players have to link before playing back out
- Go 3v2 plus 'Joker' in the middle
