Bounce Possession Game
Foundation (5-11), Youth Development (12-17), Senior (18+)
8 Players | Defensive Third, Middle Third, Attacking Third
The Set Up- Area split into thirds, four players positioned near the corners, 2v2 on the pitch
- Directional game, attacking just one end, Yellows vs Reds
- Before a Red or Yellow player can shoot, they must bounce the ball off one of the two blue players
- Not limited in number of passes into Blue players, use them for support when required
- Finishing must happen within the final third areas
Coaching Points- Passing Quality - into feet, space, split pass, first time, accuracy, weight of pass, strength of pass
- Dribbling - Positive attitude, close control, skills & tricks, plenty of touches on the ball, different parts of the foot
- Finishing Quality - Strike of the ball, maintain composure, observe GK position, standing foot position
- Support - Angle (in-front & behind), distances, communication, support the player, support the ball
- Movement - disguised, blind side, to or away from the ball, into space,
Team/Player Considerations- Can you finish 1st time? Or can you get into a position to score 1st time? Go and show me
- Who can show me how creativity they are to beat an opponent
- Challenge you not to pass back to the same player - force some pressure to retain the ball more
- How can you let your teammates know what you want? - Communication, pointing, movement
- Can you create a goal scoring opportunity within 4 passes
Step it up- Make the final third areas smaller - hard to bounce & receive
- Potentially lock some players, meaning more 1v1 scenarios in areas of the pitch IE midfield area
- You have to link before playing into a Blue player
Make it easier- Allow shots from anyway, take out the thirds
- A Blue player can come out to support the final third areas - only one, decision up to them
